The Front Steps Project

First and foremost a HUGE thanks to all the families who participated in #thefrontstepsproject with me here in Ingersoll Ontario. We have been approximately 10 weeks in covid-19 lockdown and to see new friends and old and to be able to connect from a distance has been part of my personal therapy during these tough times. I was able to shoot upwards of 115 families for the project and as a result, we managed to raise $4055 for our local food banks. On top of that, many have donated to their own charities of choice or paid it forward in some way. Warms my heart to the core.

Social photographers like me, need to shoot people and not taking photos of human interactions and connections is like cutting off my arm. Seeing the smiles on everyone’s faces and being able to see how my community is doing has been such a gift. Here is most of the families that participated, making me laugh a lot and sometimes cry. Stay safe and positive and above all treat each other with kindness as we venture into the next phase of the pandemic. Here is the link to the ‘feed ontario’ donation page in case you want to contribute! Thanks again everyone and look forward to seeing you when we can :)

a little bit about me.....

meWEB-1.jpg

Hi all, I thought I’d take a little time and tell you a little about me.

I was born in London Ontario but now live in Ingersoll. My original career aspiration was to be a nurse. I got my RN but quickly realized it wasn’t my passion. I was lucky enough to have a cool art teacher in highschool that introduced me to film and cameras and dark rooms oh my! I was hooked!! I started out taking a few pics here and there for friends. Later they asked me to shoot their weddings and family photos for them. I was lucky enough to train under Ewan Phelan of The Last Forty Percent Photography. I assisted, then was an associate with them for 3 years!

The Bridal Lounge was born 10 years ago ( can’t even believe it) I absolutely LOVE what I do, I never tire of all the stuff I get to do. The look on a brides face when I walk in to her room for the first time on her wedding day. The newborns that have literally been alive for hours and watching them wiggle out of their swaddle. Getting the shy teenage boy to laugh and engage during a family shoot. Watching a boss babe come alive during a branding shoot, seeing her gain confidence in front of my eyes!! All caught, all captured in time.

I love to watch star wars movies with my family, bake, hockey, walk and explore new places. One of my favourite things to do is scout new locations for photo sessions. If I could, I would own and ride ATVs, snowmobiles or seadoo’s 24/7! Im a bit of a tomboy but love to dress up when the time is right. I love to sing but really can’t, you take the lead, I’ve got the harmony!

Have been married almost 19 years and we hit the jackpot with 2 amazing daughters and 2 sweet fur boys.

Thanks for taking the time to check out what I do and who I am. Im always learning and growing and LOVE to meet new people and help guide them through whatever it is they need . Wedding, branding, newborn, belly and family photography is my wheelhouse and I absolutely love what I do. Stay safe and healthy xo

2020 couples shoutout

I just wanted to take a second to post a few engagement photos from some of the fabulous couples that booked me to shoot their weddings for 2020. Not all of them will now be getting married this year sadly. With everything that has been going on, the rules and restrictions are making it impossible for some of these weddings to happen. Others are wondering whether to switch dates or wait it out and take a gamble. It’s stressful and not fun to plan through. It feels like everyone is in the dark about what closures and regulations are in play, and they seem to change everyday!
The good news for you brides and grooms is that it will happen at some point, it just may take a different journey then what you first planned.
I hope you all look at this delay as more time to plan and make those centrepieces or DIY calligraphy place cards that seem to be taking forever.

It’s an extended engagement of sorts, so I celebrate all of you having to make the tough choices in this difficult time!! Stay positive and have a drink with your partner and cheers to your health and your love and I look forward to seeing you with my camera when you say ‘I do’.

(Some couples missing because we haven’t shot their engagement photos yet or they didn’t want to have them done)
